Rafael Pinilla

Rafael Pinilla Zuleta. Psychiatrist with clinical and research experience focused on the treatment of
affective and treatment-resistant disorders. My clinical work integrates biological

and psychotherapeutic approaches, with a particular interest in esketamine-
assisted psychotherapy and psychedelic-assisted therapies as complementary and

relational models of care.
Throughout my clinical practice, I have worked extensively with patients
experiencing affective, psychotic, and substance use disorders within
multidisciplinary and integrative treatment settings, where psychotherapy groups
have played a central role in care. Over recent years, my work has increasingly
centered on the therapeutic potential of esketamine and psychedelic compounds
in resistant mood disorders, especially regarding their capacity to facilitate
emotional processing, relational experiences, and psychological integration.
I am particularly interested in recovering and integrating psychotherapy —
especially psychedelic-assisted group psychotherapy — into routine clinical
practice, exploring how altered states of consciousness can be meaningfully
incorporated into contemporary psychiatric and psychotherapeutic care.
