We are pleased to announce the Foundations of Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, a one-day introductory course co-organized by the Ketamine Research Foundation and Clínica Synaptica, taking place on the 15th of October 2026 in Barcelona.
This course is designed to give healthcare professionals a thorough and practical introduction to the KAP process from start to finish. By the end of the day, participants will have a clear understanding of what a typical treatment journey looks like for a patient undergoing KAP, and will have worked through several real-life clinical scenarios drawn directly from our practice. Whether you are curious about integrating ketamine-assisted approaches into your work or simply want to deepen your understanding of this emerging field, this course offers a solid and grounded foundation.
What the course covers
The day is structured to walk participants through each key phase of the KAP process: from the initial clinical interview and patient screening, through preparation, the ketamine experience itself, and into integration and follow-up. Topics include:
- Introduction to ketamine: historical context, legal and ethical framework, and current global landscape
- Mechanisms of action and the therapeutic window of opportunity
- Preparation: working with intentions, psychoeducation, and somatic resources
- The altered state: the therapist’s role, challenges, and how to navigate them
- Scheduling, treatment personalization, and maintenance
- Integration: meaning-making, anchoring behavioral change, and ongoing support
- Screening: indications, contraindications, and case discussions
The afternoon includes a visit to Clínica Synaptica and small-group role-play sessions, offering participants the chance to put theory into practice in a supported setting.
